Restyling of a sylvestris pine

text and photos by Alfredo Salaccione

This yamadori needs a restyling work. The tree was in a pot for many years, and its good condition shows us the good work made by the owner.

After the cleaning of the old foliage, I start the wiring.

The first branch is not very strong, so its position is very important.

I decide to eliminate two branches.

It is possible to appreciate the dimension of the tree from the photo.

During a restyling work, I prefer to limit the use of thick wire. To position the branches I use guy wires that are very useful and invisible.

Wires must be effective, few and nice to see.

The work goes on and a piece of bamboo helps me to position the first branch.

The work is done. The foliage is in position.
