Restyling of an itoigawa juniper

text and photos by Alfredo Salaccione

In my opinion this kind of juniper is the best material to work. The quality and the dimension of foliage make it the best juniper to make bonsai.

The tree needs to be restyled, in fact the inner foliage is dying.

On this kind of tree I don't need to wire all the foliage because the base structure of the branches is solid.

In this picture it's possible to appreciate the living veins and the large dead wood.

Veins and shari is cleaned. It is very important to preserve the base of the shari.

Guy-wires help me to use less wire and to do a clean work.

Picture from the top. The tree is complete from every side.

Ready for exposition.
